Intimate Elopement in Stanley Park

Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC, is an absolutely stunning location for an intimate elopement. The park itself is massive, home to over 1000 acres of beautiful wilderness and pristine beaches. The seawall is world famous, a 10km paved path which you can walk or bike or blade. If you haven’t been- you should go!

The trails within the woods itself are beautiful to walk and explore, and the most perfect spots to host an intimate elopement. Old growth trees covered in mosses and mushrooms line the path, while speckled light filters through the trees.

Allison and Mark got married in this park, the place they call their backyard. They live in the West End and spend a lot of time at the beach and walking the trails. Hosting an intimate elopement in these woods was 100% the right choice for them!

Pop Up Weddings planned this beautiful elopement, and put me in touch with the lovely couple. These two were absolutely radiating and beaming love and excitement. Their friends and family were ecstatic they were finally tying the knot!

After their ceremony, we explored some of the nearby trails to play with the dappled light of the day. One of my favourite things to do with wedding portraits is to play with the provided light. In this case, this bright and sunny day was streaming through the trees creating a lot of opportunity to play with light and shadow. I had them climbing over logs, finding the sparing patches of light that streamed through the forest. I love the highlight and spotlight effect of the photos of them on the log.

One thing I always tell my couples is that when you choose me as your wedding photographer, get ready for some adventurous times! I always convince my couples to tromp through the bush to find those patches of light. Usually they’re entirely game. When we were there there was another photographer and wedding party in the area, standing and posing nicely on the path. Meanwhile, my couple was balancing on a log in the middle of the woods. What can I say, the photos always make it worth it!

All in all, this was a beautiful intimate elopement and I love the photos that capture their day. Thank you for having me and enjoy!
