Summer 2020. We all remember that time, right? Covid in full swing, large weddings canceling and rescheduling, lockdowns and masks and social distancing and and and and…this gorgeous and intimate Granville Island Elopement. Alyssa and Mark tied the knot at the end of August in a beautiful and heartfelt ceremony, with just their parents as witness.
Alyssa is my lifelong best friend, and I was lucky to also get an invite to witness their love, with my camera in hand! They had first planned on a Stanley Park elopement, but ended up deciding to use Granville Island as the backdrop to their wedding day love story. I celebrated my own wedding on Granville Island, and was more than happy to utilize the fantastic urban backdrop for some awesome portraits!
After a sweet and loving ceremony with an appearance from the local Pirates, we jumped on the False Creek Ferry for a tour around the inlet. It was a gorgeous day and traveling by the little boat made it all the more fun! I highly recommend utilizing our false creek ferry services if you’ve never traveled around the inlet! It’s a great way to see False Creek and the Vancouver skyline. After our tour, these two indulged in a Lee’s Donut and some Granville Island Beer to hold them off before their dinner at one of the local island restaurants. We wandered the island, snapping portraits as we went and using the various backdrops of the island to tell their Granville Island Elopement love story.
It was a beautiful day full of love and celebration and I am happy that Covid didn’t stop these two from celebrating their love and eloping on Granville Island!
Congratulations you two, and here’s to a lifetime of happiness!
