A West End Engagement | Vancouver LGBTQ Photographer

This West End Engagement session is one for the books! I met Matthew and Danny when they visited the Union LGBTQ+ Wedding show. It’s the first of it’s kind in Western Canada and caters to all couples of all orientations. I had set up a booth and met so many lovely couples that day. But the love these two shared really stuck out. By luck, they were my giveaway draw winners and also loved my style of photography. I’m excited to photograph their autumn wedding this October at The Vancouver Club!

We decided that since they’re having an autumn wedding, it would be nice to have some contrast with their engagement photos. And what else screams spring in Vancouver other than the blooms of pink and white blossoms? The cherry blossoms are very prominent around their West End home and they decided that would be a perfect addition for their spring engagement session. One thing I’ve since learned is that getting the timing correct when the blossoms bloom can be tricky. Especially with our temperamental rain forest weather!

The West End of Vancouver is such a vibrant place for engagement photographs. There are some fabulous coffee shops, heritage homes and a beautiful array of trees and flowers. Stanley Park is right there and also provides such a fantastic backdrop. The blossoms at the Rose Garden are stunning if you catch them at the right time. With careful planning and updates from friends in the area, we got lucky with an abundance of spring flowers and gorgeous spring weather.

We started our afternoon at Cardero Bottega, a local coffee shop this power couple frequents. After a refreshing ice coffee, we wandered our way through the West End streets, stopping at a few of the heritage buildings and finding interesting patches of light and colour. The Magnolia trees were in full bloom (and they’re my absolute favourite) so we spent some time with them and the blossoms in Stanley Park. We ended on the rooftop of their West End home with a gorgeous city scape behind us and some lovely golden light as the sun set.

I’m happy to have captured both their love and the essence of spring in the West End during this session. We had a lot of fun and their wedding this October is going to be the bomb!

Thank you both for a lovely afternoon.
