Have you ever been to the Squamish Estuary and Spit? It’s an absolutely beautiful area with stunning views of the inlet as well as the Stawamus Chief. It’s full of birdlife, marshes, mudflats and beautiful tall reeds.
I met Sarah and Phil at the Sea to Sky Wedding show last January. It was Squamish’s first wedding show and it had a fabulous turn out! They came by my photography booth and I was pretty stoked when they decided to book me for their July Furry Creek wedding.
These two have been together for years and years and seem to entirely complete one another. I love when couples are comfortable enough in front of me to bug each other, snuggle, flirt and be silly; just like how they would be together in their regular life on a walk to the estuary without a photographer in tow telling them to hold hands or kiss against the tree.
We decided to capture the changing fall colours during their session at the Squamish Estuary and Spit. I hadn’t been before and was surprised that I didn’t really know about this spot. We planned our session around the time the tide was out and went exploring. This place has a particular special meaning for the two of them, as Phil proposed here. We tried to find the spot, but the tide had done it’s job and moved the fallen trees around.
We had a great time frolicking though the trails and marshes. I saw some bird species, but will definitely have to bring my wife Leah back as she is the real birder in the family! Autumn is my favourite season, and these colours didn’t disappoint.
Enjoy this fun engagement session at the estuary and spit! Can you see the chemistry and love between these two?
