I met Chelsey and Jen as I was beginning my journey as a Vancouver LGBTQ+ Wedding Photographer, back in 2018. I had a booth at the Union Wedding Show (now no more sadly) and met this lovely couple. I photographed them multiple times and was stoked when they asked me to photograph their Vancouver Yacht Wedding! The last large boat I had been on was about a decade ago when I worked in Thailand as a scuba divemaster, so of course I was excited.

They started by getting ready at home and then we took a giant party limo downtown for photos. The weather was not on our side, but we managed to stop at the Marine Building and capture some great portraits with their bridal party and the two of them. From there, we made our way to Pacific Yacht Charters where the boat was rocking and rolling in that stormy weather. Luckily they had some sea sickness bands that I made use of pretty quick.

Chelsey and Jen said their vows as the yacht passed the Lions Gate Bridge and headed out into open waters. Family and friends watched as this long term couple finally tied the knot and it was beautiful and romantic! I’m always honoured to bear witness to the vows of all of my couples as well as document their story.

It was wonderful to be apart of this day, from the getting ready moments to rocking on the yacht and enjoying a cider (one of my first post baby)! Big props to my lovely wife who was at home with our 4 month old too! If you think a Yacht Wedding might be for you, I can definitely say it was unique, the food was delicious, and it was really fun to be out on the open water!
